Das 3.Arber-Open fand vom 16.-24.8.2014 in Bayerisch Eisenstein statt und sah 57 Teilnehmer, darunter 2 GMs, 1 IM, 2 FMs und 2 CMs.
Robert Weidenhöfer belegte in der Startrangliste zwar nur den 52.Platz, kam dann jedoch in der Schlußtabelle auf den 37.Platz und konnte sich mit 4.0 Punkten und einer Ratingsperformance von 1788 über einen Zugewinn von voraussichtlich +48 Punkten freuen.
Eine packenden Kampf um den Turniersieg lieferten sich die beiden teilnehmenden favorisierten GMs. Routinier Vlastimil Jansa (SC Forchheim) unterlag zwar in Runde 6 GM Michael Prusikin (TV Tegernsee), holte ihn aber trotzdem noch auf der Zielgeraden ein.
